Being aware of current legal issues is important, not least because it helps prospective Law students to begin to think about relevant matters, and to start seeing the world from a legal perspective. There are several suggestions elsewhere on this blog about how you can stay up to date and find ways into Law-related issues and debates. But it is also useful to read more widely: to get a sense of what it is like to be a Law student, and to get a sense of the type of subjects you will end up studying if you do a Law degree. Two books I think form a particularly good starting-point. Full disclosure: both books are by colleagues of mine in the Cambridge Law Faculty, and I wrote a chapter in one of the books. It is likely to be helpful if you are not yet sure whether Law is the right subject for you; if you want to know what being a Law student is like; or if you are starting out as a Law student and need help with getting to the study of Law.
Relationships in Law School
They are highly argumentative. They are too academic-oriented and career-oriented to be in a satisfying relationship. They will not have time for your favorite out-of-town trips, for a relaxing museum walk, or for a honeymoon.

There are lots of different people studying the law for lots of different reasons and at many different academic levels, and these people would all be defined as law students. Law students are based at universities and independent law schools and tend to be busy people who are involved in many extra-curricular activities. Law students in th UK, Europe, United States or indeed worldwide will be studying or researching any area of the law at any level.
Lawyers have a huge student debt. Lawyers not only practice their skills for work when they negotiate, but also to make their life easier because they can’t afford.

Give up arguing with a law student because he or she will not back down arguing is practically their job. They will challenge you until they are blue in the face…even if you are obviously correct. Thus, be emotionally ready because they will find some defamation of your character or numerous evidentiary examples of why they are clearly winning the argument. In the end just accept the fact—they are always right. You need to know that you will not stay awake until the wee hours of the night talking about your dreams and goals until one of you falls asleep.

Notoriously, law students are famed for being worked to the point of no return. They are stressed , unreliable with social commitments and the discussion of anything law-related is forever on the tip of their tongue. The mere idea of successfully juggling an academic life with a dating life seems impossible.

Why Dating is Different for Lawyers
Blurbs that decry the selfishness and greed of these non-legal lovers; how can they not understand time and energy it takes to read for torts? We have the time to text you back; the truth is we choose not to. You should never let your significant other get away with inconsiderate or offensive behavior just because he or she is in law school. It does not immutably change you, make you special or give you a free pass to being a jerk.

When your better half finally does manage to break free from the chains of target billable hours — for a few hours away — expect them to take the stresses of work home with them.
Sharing a bottle of wine and watching a film on the sofa? Add two hours of tears, sporadic email checking, the occasional angry outburst and three unexpected phone calls from international clients, and you have the perfect lawyer date night.
